Halifa Sallah says Gambians should unite to vote for change

Halifa Sallah, the presidential candidate for People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS), has said that Gambians should unite and vote for change, adding that change cannot happen without unity.

 

“Gambians have to unite before we can bring change,” he said.

 

He further said that no one has a vote based on tribe, arguing that every Gambian has an equal vote by virtue of being a Gambian. 

 

“We shall invite and know that we are all equal with one vote” he remarked.

 

Sallah made these remarks on Friday 26 November 2021 in Bwaim, Foni. Hon. Sallah,  is on the campaign trail ahead of the 4th December presidential elections.

 

The seasoned politician observed that, the country is still faced with the same problems and issues since independence.

 

He blamed the previous regimes for their lack of visionary foresight, and failure to register development to the rural communities.

 

The veteran politician called for “system change” that will bring policies and programs towards alleviating the poor conditions of Gambians.

 

Halifa Sallah, criticises the government of President Adama Barrow for their lack of effort in creating employment opportunities to the youths and women.

 

He said if elected into office his government will create “sovereign wealth invention fund” he poised.

 

He urged electorates to vote for change in the upcoming election. He said 2016 election that ousted former President Yahya Jammeh, was a typical example that shows power that belongs to the people.

Mr Essa Dampha, the outspoken aide on media for President Adama Barrow, asserted that the President has the prospects of winning the 2026 election with a landslide.

He justified his argument on the basis that the President has achieved monumental gains in terms of delivery adequately responding to the plights of the Gambian People.

Mr. Dampha also described President Barrow as a problem solver, not a firefighter er, emphasizing that his principle is to investigate the genesis of the problem and find a duration solution to it.

“his development trajectory is more like a problem solver, not a firefighter. When there is a problem, he reacts quickly and finds out the root course of that problem. He worked on that and found a solution. He is a proactive leader.” he remarked. 

Reacting to the recent allegations of vote rigging by the NPP, Mr Dampha said the government has distanced itself from such irresponsible and baseless allegations. He commended the charismatic Information Minister Dr Ismailia Ceesay, who applauded him for changing the government information flow dynamics.
