Lamin Manneh, UDP’s Deputy Senior Administrative Secretary for Diaspora and External Affairs has said that the move of Momodou Sabally to NPP is his prerogative right.

He made these remarks on Thursday in an interview with Peter Gomez on the popular Coffee Time show.

“If he chooses to move to another party, that is entirely his prerogative right, and we must respect that

Sabaaly is a Gambian and it is his democratic right. He came to the UDP and we welcomed him with open arms, and he played his part. And he decides to move on.

Constitutionally he has the right to move to any party he wants to. So we respected that.

Anybody who comes to UDP from another party, we are open to all Gambians. We will accept you , and give you the treatment that we give to everyone in the party. we give everybody the benefit of the doubt.,” he asserted.

asked about the fear of whether Sabally will leak information that will be damaging to the party.

He responded: “That's how often people don't understand the UDP.  We are an open party. We are transparent. We have had hardly anything to hide from the party.

Because we want to make sure that the transparency that we advocate for elsewhere is available in the party. We don't have anything to hide from the Gambians. Sabally came to the party like anybody. We have our programs, policy, the five point agenda and manifesto,” he said.

Asked also whether Sabally could divulge details of UDP's campaign strategy to the NPP

He added: “For the best part of that strategy I was in charge of it. And I was talking about it openly.

We discussed it with the whole country. We told them we have an election management system software, and is going to be fed by the results from the polling stations.

We told them the polling agents are going to get the results and fill it into our system. We told the government that if you tried to block it; or tamper with the internet, we have other ways of doing this.

We told them that with the election management software is going to prevent fraud. And we told them that we are going to prevent fraud. So the results are what they are.

The only thing that might be of a bit secret, is our software itself. But like any IT software, you have a system that protects it. We have our backups here and abroad,” he concluded.
