Police Investigates Shooting Incident At Wellingara School

The Gambia Police Force (GPF)  are currently investigating a shooting incident at Wellingara Lower Basic School, at West Coast Region, which was reported by the vice principal of the school.


The incident has caused panic and shock for the residential areas.


The police quickly responded to the scene, recovered the weapon, and secured it.


The public will be duly informed of any developments as the investigation into the incident continues.

Deputy Speaker Welcomes EU Delegation to Discuss Electoral Reforms

    The Honourable Deputy Speaker, Seedy SK Njie, welcomed a high-ranking European Union (EU) delegation led by Ambassador-Designate Immaculada Roca I Cortes. The high-level meeting focused on reviewing the progress made on the implementation of the recommendations made by the EU after The Gambia's 2021 elections, particularly as the country looks forward to its next electoral cycle beginning in 2026.  The EU post-electoral report made 20 recommendations, of which 15 targeted legal reforms to enhance electoral fairness and transparency. The meeting discussed EU concerns regarding transparency measures and access to information within the National Assembly by the general public. In response, Deputy Speaker Njie highlighted several initiatives, including a dedicated communications unit, committee-led townhall meetings and oversight activities, live-streamed sessions, and open media access to parliamentary proceedings. Even Barrow’s detractors and those who do not support him concede that he has a legal right to continue the self-perpetuation. Some of Barrow’s “againsers” (as we say in Badibu) caveat their legal concession by insisting that while he has the legal right to contest, it is still morally wrong.
